Position Overview:
The Research Scientist I will contribute to the scientific policy development team under the supervision of the Manager, Laboratory Policy. This role is crucial in redefining how health plans, physicians, and laboratories collaborate to deliver laboratory care to millions of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research and summarize evidence-based scientific literature.
- Draft responses to scientific inquiries from clients.
- Develop new policies and revise existing laboratory policies based on research findings.
- Assist in client policy reconciliation as directed.
- Format and update various documents as needed.
- Maintain and organize multiple forms and electronic documents.
- Track policy changes using spreadsheets and other tracking tools.
- Collaborate with different departments to ensure effective communication regarding policy updates.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager, Laboratory Policy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology, Medical Technology, or a related field.
- Experience in creating or revising medical policies or clinical practice guidelines within a managed care environment.
- Familiarity with process improvement principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Knowledge of standard editorial and style conventions.
- Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Adaptability to changes and innovations in the field.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and interact effectively with clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from the American Medical Writers Association or equivalent.
- Understanding of clinical laboratory testing methods.
- Experience in customer service and previous exposure to health plan operations.
