Job Title: Laboratory Analyst I

Job Summary

The Laboratory Analyst I prepares and analyzes samples with accuracy and precision in accordance with SGS' analytical SOPs. This role requires working independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze samples according to SGS' analytical SOPs using instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies.
  • Perform microscopic analysis of bulk samples using PLM for asbestos, and analysis of air samples using PCM for airborne asbestos.
  • Assist with investigation and preparation of responses to client inquiries and CARs.
  • Input and maintain technical information as needed to support laboratory functions/operations.
  • Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in a Geology/Biology or similar scientific discipline and 0-2 years of experience in Built Environment Lab OR 3 years of relevant experience (i.e. Sample Prep) (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Geology/Biology or similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years of years' relevant experience in Built Environment Laboratories (Preferred)
  • Advanced English language skills (Required)
  • Basic reasoning and mathematical skills (Required)
  • Basic computer skills (Required)
  • Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)
