Position: Lead Safety Analysis Engineer - INL MOOSE (Hybrid)
This role involves supporting the safety analysis for eVinciTM Micro Reactors.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will collaborate with the eVinci Safety Analysis team and engage with the broader eVinciTM Micro Reactor project team to conduct modeling and safety analysis for innovative reactor designs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical expertise for safety analysis of microreactor systems in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Conducting modeling and analysis of advanced reactor designs utilizing the INL MOOSE-based multiphysics codes (neutronic and/or thermal mechanical). You will also be responsible for developing technical documentation and presentations related to these analyses.
- Working collaboratively across various functions (including system and component design, testing, manufacturing, and materials) to address complex technical challenges associated with the eVinci Microreactor and other advanced reactor designs.
- Communicating effectively with technical leads and project managers to coordinate activities related to your assigned scope of work.
Qualifications:
As a successful candidate, you will possess the following:
Required:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering (or a recognized equivalent) with a minimum preferred GPA of 3.0.
- 2-5+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in applying fundamental engineering principles, particularly in thermal hydraulics and fluid transport.
- Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities, including technical writing.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to address various issues such as project status, problem resolution, and engineering recommendations.
- Capability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks within an innovative development environment.
Preferred:
- An advanced (MS) degree focusing on heat and mass transfer and numerical thermal analysis.
- Experience in modeling or simulation with INL MOOSE-based multiphysics codes and neutronics analysis (e.g., MCNP, Serpent).
