Position Summary:

This role entails providing technical guidance on functional safety principles and methodologies to a diverse design and validation team.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement functional and technical safety processes for testing and validating heavy truck systems, including advanced driver assistance systems and electric vehicle technologies.
  • Lead teams in conducting risk assessments and safety analyses of proposed truck systems utilizing methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Hazard Assessments, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Interpret functional requirements and formulate test cases for safety-critical functions.
  • Oversee the creation and management of functional safety test plans.
  • Maintain and enhance expertise in automotive best practices related to functional safety.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, along with comprehensive reports documenting processes and their application to specific testing projects.
  • Continuously improve testing methodologies and foster effective communication within teams.
  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the heavy-duty truck industry, with a preference for those familiar with truck operations.
  • At least three years of experience in functional safety engineering.
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262 and its practical application; Functional Safety Engineering certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Controller Area Network (CAN) operations, particularly J1939.
  • Strong teamwork capabilities and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to manage personal workload and adapt to changing project demands.
