Job Description

At Pro-Pipe, Inc, we are seeking a skilled Locate Technician to join our team of professionals dedicated to providing exceptional damage prevention solutions to utility companies and municipalities.

Job Summary:

  • Use advanced technical equipment to accurately locate underground facilities such as telephone lines, electrical power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines.
  • Communicate and interact daily with managers, excavation crews, and homeowners to discuss locate issues.
  • Interpret job order tickets and respond appropriately to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Read maps and blueprints to ensure accurate location of utilities.
  • Determine efficient route to each locate in rural and urban areas.
  • Remove and replace manhole lids.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform locate duties before or after normal business hours when on call.
  • Operate independently and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to access restricted and/or controlled areas.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to use computer to complete documentation and receive and send email.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk all types of terrain in and around construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial and rural areas.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to learn and receive instructor-led training to receive locator certification.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
