Job Overview

Position Title: Line Mechanic

Department: Service

Reports To: Service Manager

Objective:

The Line Mechanic is tasked with executing assigned repairs and supervising the apprentice mechanic under their guidance. To maintain technical proficiency, attendance at manufacturer-sponsored training sessions is required, along with a thorough understanding of technical bulletins provided by the manufacturer. Additionally, the Line Mechanic is responsible for fostering positive relationships with customers who return with concerns regarding previous work, adhering to dealership policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive repair orders from the Dispatcher and move vehicles to the designated work area.
  • Perform tasks as specified in the repair order efficiently and comprehensively.
  • Inform the Service Salesperson of any additional repairs needed or if certain outlined work is unnecessary.
  • Oversee the apprentice mechanic's work.
  • Maintain a high level of technical skill and knowledge.
  • Participate in all manufacturer-sponsored training programs and dealership training sessions.
  • Stay updated with all technical bulletins issued by the manufacturer.
  • Seek assistance from the Shop Foreman when required.
  • Ensure the dealership maintains a reputation for customer satisfaction.
  • Keep vehicles clean during the repair process.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with customers and the Service Manager regarding any follow-up work.
  • Ensure cleanliness of work attire, tools, and work areas.
  • Report to management if a customer's vehicle sustains damage during service.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening test.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
