About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager Procurement to join our team at Abbott, a global healthcare leader. As a key member of our Rapid Diagnostics business, you will be responsible for procurement activities for the Biologics & Reagents category.

Key Responsibilities
  • Influence business unit strategy and translate it into an aligned category strategy, programs, and projects.
  • Champion change and innovation, stimulating creativity and innovation in others.
  • Promote a global perspective, assisting in defining category procurement strategy for Abbott and aligning with overall strategy.
  • Drive Total Cost of Ownership reductions for the category through analytics.
  • Clearly define category taxonomy and manage baseline, coordinating across corporate, functions, and divisions to share best practices and adherence to guidelines.
  • Assess the overall needs of select business units and negotiate an accepted portfolio meeting the most strategic needs of the category.
  • Lead initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cross cultures, influencing and partnering with business leaders to manage and align the category.
  • Closely collaborate with adjacent business departments to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services, in line with agreed service levels.
  • Partner and collaborate with key One Procurement staff of other Abbott divisions to support cross-divisional business initiatives and explore procurement synergies and efficiencies.
  • Own and implement purchasing strategies for the category, fostering a collaborative environment among stakeholders and building and maintaining strong relationships across various functions.
  • Ensure optimal balance between value for money and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and excellent customer service.
  • Monitor market dynamics for the category across regions, continually looking for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance.
  • Manage category projects across business units and division-wide when and where applicable, leading business projects based on category expertise.
  • Lead project teams responsible for selection of category strategy, responsible for people leadership, recruiting, mentoring, training, and developing talent.
  • Address people issues in a constructive and timely manner, responsible for overall morale of the team and promoting a cohesive attitude.
  • Establish staffing/resources plans, determining the appropriate mix of sourcing opportunities, and responsible for overall organizational effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, graduate degree preferred.
  • 7+ year track record within procurement and supply chain management, 7+ years of procurement and/or deep category experience.
  • Experience in diagnostics, biologics, or reagents is preferred, professional certifications desirable (CPSM, CPM, PMP, or similar certification).
  • Good organizational skills, including program/project management governance, strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills, international experience and knowledge of markets by regions.
  • Expertise in Supplier Relationship Management, ability to develop actionable implementation plans, relevant business process knowledge as related to procurement and category management.
  • Strong influence and negotiating skills, experience leading teams - both with direct staff and indirect project teams, ability to travel approximately 10% - 25%, including internationally.
