While it is preferable for candidates to be located in North Carolina due to the availability of panel manufacturing facilities, relocation assistance is available, and remote work may be considered as a last option.
Position Details:
- Compensation: $150,000 - $160,000 based on experience
- Work Location: North Carolina (relocation support provided), remote work as a secondary option
- Interview Process: Single-stage interview
- Professional Engineer (PE) License: Required for client interaction and project ownership
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Development: Produce detailed designs for Substation and/or Protection & Control initiatives.
- Diagram and Drawing Creation: Generate and revise one-line and three-line diagrams, protective relaying and control schematic drawings, AC & DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel front views, equipment layouts, cable and conduit schedules, and material lists in accordance with client specifications.
- Engineering Applications: Employ engineering software to execute tasks such as determining equipment ratings, sizing equipment according to project needs, performing CT burden calculations, AC station service load assessments, DC battery sizing, and voltage drop evaluations.
- Equipment Specifications: Draft specifications for the procurement of equipment.
- Quality Control: Conduct quality assurance evaluations of substation project documentation and manufacturing processes.
- Supervisory Duties: Manage panel manufacturing, FAT and SAT, integrated factory acceptance testing, configuration and testing of protection and control devices, commissioning of CTs and VTs, SAT for control and protection, and protection testing routines.
- Professional Conduct: Exhibit accountability, professionalism, and a dedication to surpassing client expectations.
- Communication: Foster effective communication with clients and stakeholders, offering guidance and mentorship as necessary.
- Project Coordination: Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, coordinating activities with client representatives and other stakeholders.
- Work Schedule: Adhere to standard operating hours and be available for overtime and weekend work as needed. Travel within the United States may be required up to 25% of the time for site supervision and training.
Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer License: Must possess a valid Professional Engineer license.
- Educational Background: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in substation protection and control design and engineering for high voltage substations in the United States.
- Standards Familiarity: Knowledge of engineering standards such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Communication Proficiency: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English is essential.
