Job Summary

As a Radiology Interventional Technologist at Heart Hospital of Austin, you will play a critical role in providing technical assistance to physicians in the Surgical and Imaging departments. This position requires a strong understanding of radiological and interventional procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Perform radiological and interventional procedures in a timely and efficient manner, documenting all necessary information and communicating with primary physicians and direct care staff.
  • Coordinate and assist the care of patients assigned, collaborating with other radiology technologists, physicians, nurses, and allied health staff.
  • Evaluate patient condition to ensure adequate performance of radiological and interventional exams.
  • Inform and explain procedures to patients, ensuring their cooperation and understanding.
  • Provide comprehensive direct patient care, maintaining a safe and comforting environment.
  • Consult with other staff as necessary to meet patient and family needs.
  • Ensure availability and safe utilization of clinical equipment and supplies.
  • Possess knowledge of patient growth and development across the lifespan.
  • Perform Point of Care procedures in a timely manner, documenting required information and adhering to quality control standards.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with equipment in the Interventional Suite procedure room, including fluoroscopy, pan tables, and digital acquisition systems.
  • Demonstrate understanding of supplies used for specified procedures.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with renal, neuro, peripheral, and vascular anatomy.
  • Perform circulator duties during procedures, including supply management and equipment operation.
  • Troubleshoot simple equipment issues and respond to departmental policy guidelines.
  • Communicate with radiologists and other physicians to coordinate and facilitate interventional schedules and patient care.
  • Provide statistical reports within established timeframes.
  • Utilize resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Participate in developing other staff and affiliating students.
  • Maintain and develop own professional competencies.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Radiology or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or an American Medical Association-approved program in Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards.
  • Current Medical Radiologic Technologist certification with the Texas Medical Board (TMB).
  • One of the following current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)/Registered Radiologic Technologist RT(R), (VI) license.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
