We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at SSM Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for evaluating and caring for patients with respiratory therapy needs.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
- Administer prescribed respiratory therapeutic services in accordance with specific physician's orders, department policies and procedures, and guidelines.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans and equipment, and evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.
- Educate patients and families about health conditions and provide information about community support groups and other available programs.
- Assist with care, calibration, and maintenance of all equipment, and participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment.
- Respond to medical emergencies and rapid responses, and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent years of experience and education.
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Respiratory Care Practitioner registration from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), or equivalent registration from another state.
This position is a night shift role, working 36 hours per week. SSM Health is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in the workplace.
