Job Opportunity:

Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit is seeking a dynamic and experienced Wellness Education Teacher to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Wellness Education Teacher will be responsible for creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for our students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a commitment to adapting their curriculum to meet the needs of students with disabilities or different physical abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive wellness education program that meets the needs of students in grades early childhood through eighth grade.
  • Teach skills and activities that promote a healthy and active lifestyle, including skill work, game play, and assessments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement a cohesive wellness education program that aligns with the school's mission and values.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and productive experience for all.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in wellness education and adapt the curriculum accordingly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • State teaching certification in health and physical education (P.E.) preferred.
  • Early childhood experience and coaching experience a plus.
  • First aid training and ability to demonstrate skills and move with students.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on prioritizing safety and understanding students' disabilities and adaptive P.E. techniques.
