Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced EHSS Specialist to join our team at Carus Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day EHSS operations of our facilities, leading site safety committees, and ensuring compliance with permit requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • EHSS Operations: Assist in carrying out the day-to-day EHSS operations of the LaSalle, Naplate, and landfill facilities.
  • Site Safety Committee Leadership: Lead LaSalle Site Safety Committee, including meeting facilitation, coordination of field activities, and follow up on key action items derived from meeting discussions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Work cross-functionally to ensure that effective procedures and monitoring programs are in place to ensure compliance with permit requirements.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Lead Carus Confined Space Rescue and site First Responder team. Coordinate team functions, staffing plans, and training as required to support plant needs.
  • Emergency Planning: Lead emergency preparedness activities for all Carus sites. Drive execution of drill planning, revision of emergency plans, and coordination with local agencies as necessary to support planning activities. Drive continuous improvement in this area.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred in an environmental/health & safety field.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience working in a regulated chemical facility or facility which uses chemicals to manufacture an end product.
  • Skills: Critical thinking skills, a strong ethical drive, and a desire to support Best in Class EHSS. Experience in one or more of the following areas: emergency preparedness and planning, site security, contractor programs, critical EHSS standards, influential leadership or safety committee participation.
  • Licenses: Industrial Class K Wastewater License and Certified Landfill Operator license required for role; candidate must have ability to obtain such licenses.
