The role of Residential Support Specialist is an excellent opportunity for individuals over 18 years of age, possessing a high school diploma or equivalent, who are eager to contribute to the Human Services sector. In this capacity, staff members will engage with clients in a group home environment, focusing on developing essential living skills, social interactions, and financial literacy, while also ensuring adherence to treatment plans. This position is part-time, covering weekends across all shifts (8am-4pm, 4pm-12am, 12am-8am) at House 25.
Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Computer Proficiency
- Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills
- Valid Driver's License with an Excellent 5-Year Driving Record
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration, and Crisis Prevention Intervention (or willingness to obtain)
Key Responsibilities:
- In the absence of the House Supervisor, take on supervisory responsibilities for the direct care of residents.
- Provide ongoing instruction, support, and motivation to residents.
- Implement basic living skills training and document residents' progress accurately in the Electronic Health Record.
- Assist in organizing resident activities both within the home and in the community.
- Complete necessary documentation, including staff notes and incident reports, in a timely and precise manner.
- Encourage residents in meal preparation, ensuring adherence to nutritional guidelines, and assist as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean living environment, supporting residents in following house rules.
- Exhibit strong safety practices, including participation in fire drills and emergency procedures.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, their families, and co-workers.
- Administer medication under supervision and maintain accurate records.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay current with required certifications.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts and submit time sheets and leave requests promptly.
- Report maintenance issues and assist in the upkeep of the facility and equipment.
- Part-time weekends, covering all shifts at House 25.
