Job Title: Senior Director, Software Development

Estimated Salary: $220,000 - $280,000 per year (dependent on experience)

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Director, Software Development who will lead our development team, overseeing the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products, and driving innovation within the team.

This role involves making tactical decisions around data structure, storage, and transfer within and between systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software developers, architects, and QA engineers.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the development team.
  • Set clear performance goals and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and execute the software development strategy in alignment with the company's business objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define technical priorities and project timelines.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and competitive advantage.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple software projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Implement best practices for agile software development, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Coordinate with product management, UX/UI design, and other departments to ensure seamless project execution.

Technical Oversight:

  • Ensure the development and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure software solutions.
  • Conduct regular code reviews and provide guidance on coding standards, architecture, and best practices.
  • Resolve complex technical issues and make critical decisions regarding the software architecture and design.
  • May spend up to 20% of time writing code.

Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and maintain high standards for software quality, including implementing automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment practices.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of software development processes, codebases, and systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing and scaling software development teams.
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on experience with modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript, etc).
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with cybersecurity best practices and ensuring software security.
