Position Overview:

The role involves operating and maintaining two surface water treatment facilities along with other associated operational sites, such as booster stations and tanks. The individual will be responsible for keeping accurate production and maintenance records and conducting routine chemical tests to ensure compliance with water quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Production Superintendent.
  • Alternate between roles as Plant Operator and Maintenance Technician as scheduled by the Production Manager, including overtime and emergency response as needed.
  • Utilize the SCADA system to monitor and operate treatment plants and facilities, ensuring manual operations during system failures.
  • Identify and report significant system issues to supervisory personnel.
  • Ensure water quality meets or exceeds the standards set by the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act and state regulations.
  • Collect samples and perform essential chemical tests, such as pH and chlorine levels, to monitor treatment processes and suggest necessary adjustments.
  • Execute emergency procedures for plant operations.
  • Maintain accurate operational and maintenance logs.
  • Understand and implement standard operating procedures for water treatment equipment.
  • Regularly analyze SCADA data to identify trends and potential issues.
  • Adhere to established safety standards and operating procedures.
  • Manage the operation of the water treatment residuals system as required.
  • Utilize a computer-based Work Order system for maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct repairs on pumps, valves, piping, and chemical feed systems as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in water treatment, equipment maintenance, or related fields is required.

Certifications:

  • Operator's License is preferred.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work shifts are typically scheduled from 7 am to 3 pm, 3 pm to 11 pm, and 11 pm to 7 am, subject to change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime may be required, and the individual must be available for emergency response outside regular hours.
