We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Geisinger Health System. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and clinical support to our physicians and other providers in the outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and document patient information, including reason for visit, weight, vital signs, and medication review.
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms between cases, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients.
- Assist patients as needed to prepare for visits with providers, maintaining patient safety and privacy.
- Provide direct patient care as directed by providers, including performing EKGs, wound dressings, and supporting minor surgical procedures.
- Administer medications according to policy and procedure, after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, completing associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Perform receptionist and clerical duties to support patient care and clinic functioning, including filing reports and responding to patient inquiries.
- Document patient information in the electronic medical record, using the rooming tool and other relevant systems.
- Graduate of an accredited 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
- Certified by one of the listed governing associations, including NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.
