Job Summary

This position provides therapeutic support to patients with speech, language, and cognitive disorders. The Speech Therapy Assistant will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to provide direct treatment assistance, conduct screenings, and document patient progress.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct treatment to patients in areas such as augmentative communication, cognitive rehabilitation, life skills, expressive language, and receptive language.
  • Assist with informal documentation during intervention sessions, prepare materials, and perform clerical duties as specified by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about program goals, methods, and injury prevention.
  • Participate in research projects, in-service training, and public relations programs.

Requirements:

  • Apost-secondary training program approved by the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • A degree or certification from a regionally-accredited program in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
  • An ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in SPL.
  • A current OR SPL license.
  • AHA BLS certification within one month of hire.

The estimated salary for this role is $50,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.
