Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lateral Police Officer to join our team at the Longmont Police Department. As a Lateral Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, enforcing laws and regulations, and providing exceptional service to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol designated areas of the city to preserve law and order and respond to calls for service.
  • Enforce traffic and other laws and ordinances, and educate citizens regarding laws and ordinances.
  • Conduct investigations, gather information, and testify in court as needed.
  • Provide public service and respond to inquiries in routine, potential problem, and crisis situations.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community groups to resolve community public safety issues.
Requirements
  • Must have a minimum of 60 semester hours of college-level credit or a signed agreement to complete the required hours within five years of hire date.
  • Must have at least one year of experience as a full-time law enforcement officer equivalent to a peace officer as defined by CRS.
  • Must have Colorado POST Basic Certification or Colorado POST Provisional Certification.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain one.
Selection Process

The selection process will include an application review, oral interview, integrity interview, job suitability assessment, physical abilities test, background investigation, psychological evaluation, medical assessment, and drug screen.
