Job Title: GIS Technician

MNS Engineers, a leading infrastructure consulting firm, is seeking a skilled GIS Technician to join our team. As a GIS Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our efforts in San Bernardino, working closely with our Community Planning Practice Lead and clients to deliver high-quality Geographic Information System (GIS) programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide graphic support for departments and projects by gathering, analyzing, and integrating geospatial data to create and design a variety of maps, exhibits, and other graphic materials.
  • Evaluate and define data needs, project requirements, and objectives, and desired output in consultation with end users to develop graphic materials, update, create, and acquire internal and external GIS data.
  • Configure and maintain database library, ensure data integrity during integration with other IT systems and databases, and make recommendations for data standardization.
  • Administer GIS database, GIS-based transportation models, and related applications, ensuring adherence to quality standards based on industry standards and evaluation of available technology and resources.
  • Explain technical information to system users, provide training, and advise on best practices.
  • Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in technology related to GIS, research, evaluate, test, and recommend vendor solutions and technologies.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of GIS concepts and analytical techniques, including computerized mapping and digital data conversion, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Operational characteristics of a diverse range of GIS systems and tools, including ARC Software experience.
  • Methods and techniques of relational database management, record keeping principles and procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Ability to create, manipulate, and maintain a comprehensive library of spatial data tables and layers, perform analyses of GIS informational requirements and needs, and identify, evaluate, and solve GIS problems.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work independently, and effectively use computer systems, software applications relevant to work performed.
Education and Experience:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in geographic information systems, geography, computer science, transportation, urban planning, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in performing GIS analysis and/or transportation modeling, with experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, Pro, and Desktop Software.
