The role of the Assistant Teacher is vital in supporting Lead Teachers and the Director in cultivating a safe and nurturing atmosphere for children. This position involves assisting in various educational activities and ensuring high-quality care and education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Teacher in executing curriculum activities and motivate children to participate.
  • Design, guide, and implement activities that promote intellectual and creative development.
  • Create a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
  • Engage actively in activities while maintaining the cleanliness and organization of classroom materials.
  • Establish schedules and routines that promote physical activity, rest, and play.
  • Maintain open communication with parents through informal discussions and progress updates.
  • Encourage self-sufficiency and good hygiene practices through modeling behavior.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions for children from home to the childcare setting.
  • Adhere to all center policies and state regulations.
  • Commit to personal professional development for continuous improvement.
Qualifications

  • Completion of minimum state-required coursework or the ability to obtain it within the first six months of employment.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Understanding of child development principles.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with children and their families.
  • Exhibit a positive, patient, and adaptable demeanor.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain it within the first three months of employment.
  • Successful completion of a full background check.
  • Pass health screenings and TB tests.
  • A genuine passion for working with children.
