Position Overview:
The Licensed Veterinary Technician plays a vital role in delivering high-quality care to our patients. As essential partners to our veterinarians, Licensed Technicians provide the necessary support to ensure seamless and successful client interactions and procedures.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians and team members, providing timely feedback and incorporating suggestions for positive outcomes.
  • Effective Communication: Clearly convey instructions to clients and colleagues to facilitate successful patient care.
  • Active Listening: Follow veterinarians' instructions and respond to the needs of clients and team members based on previous experiences.
  • Organizational Skills: Efficiently manage lab specimens, medications, patient instructions, and workflow while attending to multiple patients and clients.
  • Client Satisfaction: Ensure all interactions and activities lead to the highest level of client satisfaction.

Essential Duties:
  • Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures and other tasks as required.
  • Conduct outpatient exams by gathering patient histories, vital signs, and weights, while providing client education.
  • Prepare patients for surgical procedures and monitor their vital signs during surgery.
  • Collect blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-house laboratory tests and prepare specimens for external laboratories.
  • Take and process radiographs, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Provide basic animal handling and restraint during examinations.
  • Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Maintain cleanliness in exam rooms, treatment areas, and labs; restock supplies as needed.
  • Exhibit warmth, courtesy, and professionalism in all client interactions; show compassion in all patient dealings.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians and team members regarding client discussions, patient plans, and concerns.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • State certification as a licensed veterinary technician.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment weighing up to 25 pounds; assistance required for heavier items.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculating medication dosages.
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure patient safety.
