Job Summary

At DTE Energy, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Control Room Operator to join our team. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and technical skills to ensure the safe and efficient production of steam and electricity.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and controlling all on-shift operations, as well as taking necessary actions to protect people, environment, and equipment. This includes ensuring compliance with site safety and environmental requirements, planning and directing housekeeping duties, and overseeing station operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • Assist in planning and directing housekeeping duties to maintain high standards
  • Oversee station operations, including startup, shutdown, inspection, and routine chemical testing
  • Assist in maintaining administrative documents and generating reports
  • Provide feedback on technical and administrative conduct of shift operations
  • Assist in the development and implementation of daily operations schedules
  • Support the Operations Supervisor in planning routine preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Communicate with other personnel and external stakeholders
  • Maximize plant efficiency and shareholder value while ensuring safety and environmental compliance
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of power plant experience in operations and maintenance
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with wood-fired steam turbine electrical generation

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to outside weather conditions, including wet and humid conditions, and extreme heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and the employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators and flame retardant clothing.
