The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team as a Nurse Consultant for Abortion Access. This role will play a critical part in promoting the health and well-being of New Yorkers, particularly those in need of access to abortion services.

About the Role:
  • Provide high-quality patient care in our clinics, including support, assessment, medication administration, and education on various diseases such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, HIV, Monkey Pox, and TB.
  • Assist with patient care regarding medication abortion services, including rotating between clinic care and telemedicine hotline duties.
  • Conduct brief but sensitive problem-focused medical interviews, including discussions around sexual history and orientation.

Requirements:

  • A valid New York State license as a Registered Nurse, a baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited college, and a master's degree from an accredited college in Nursing, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience in public health or hospital nursing, with one year in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, or educational capacity.
