Radiology Technologist Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Dreamers Healthcare Staffing. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for taking images of various portions of the body using stationary and portable x-ray equipment. You will also process and critique radiographic films, prepare rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications.

**Responsibilities:**

* Assess requisitions for the appropriateness of procedures
* Ask patients to state their name and verify it with ID bracelets and/or requisitions
* Explain procedures to patients
* Perform radiologic procedures as assigned, adhering to prescribed techniques
* Prepare and administer contrast agents necessary for radiologic examinations of internal organs
* Assess and observe patients for adverse reactions during procedures
* Prepare patients for procedures
* Explain procedures, assist, and transfer patients to tables, position patients' bodies for accurate images, and assist patients at the end of procedures
* Follow prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays, adjust equipment, determine proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time, arrange immobilization and support devices to obtain patient positions, adjust lead shields to protect unaffected parts of patients' bodies, adjust cones to direct concentration of rays on specific areas, and select proper film
* Observe patients and equipment during procedures and report unusual occurrences and record patients' conditions
* Transport patients within departments, to and from waiting areas as required
* Process images/film in accordance with guidelines and photographic techniques
* Perform quality control activities to ensure optimal quality radiographs
* Perform mobile x-rays in patients' rooms, emergency rooms, and operating rooms
* Troubleshoot and report equipment problems to supervisors
* Prepare and maintain radiologic records, files, and technical work sheets
* Order and stock supplies
* Clean and disinfect patient rooms

**Requirements:**

* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
* Participate in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills for continued competence
* Ability to work as a team member
* Skilled in the operation of stationary and portable radiologic equipment
* Attention to detail
* Basic understanding of computer technology
* Perform all duties using proper body mechanics

**Work Environment:**

* Frequently move/lift between pounds, depending on assignment requirements
* Stand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling, and reaching to prepare equipment, materials, or objects in order to provide patient care or maintain the patient environment
* Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination
* Ability to work in a stressful environment
* Ability to follow directions
