Job Title: Assistant General Manager

Job Summary:
As a key member of our team, the Assistant General Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our fitness center. This position will work closely with the Club Manager to oversee club operations, build a positive team atmosphere, and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training a high-performing staff of Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere for members, prospective members, and guests, ensuring staff provides exceptional customer service.
  • Assist with staff management, providing backup support to the Club Manager as needed.
  • Schedule and supervise staff to ensure all shifts are covered.
  • Ensure staff provides exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Assist in resolving or escalating employee issues or concerns.
  • Process weekly employee payroll as needed.
  • Provide backup support for absent employees.
  • Lead by example, participating in front desk activities and greeting members and guests.
  • Answer phones, assist callers, and check members into the system.
  • Facilitate member requests and resolve issues.
  • Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of the club.
  • Ensure the safety of employees, members, and club property.
  • Participate in facility cleaning and upkeep.
  • Order supplies within budget.
  • Track statistics and reports.
  • Manage marketing efforts.
  • Make daily bank deposits.

Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years old or older and have a high school diploma/GED equivalent.
  • One year of customer service experience, preferably in a similar gym or retail environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn systems quickly.
  • Solid supervisory, diplomacy, and listening skills.
  • Hard working, enthusiastic, and energetic, with a passion for health and fitness.
  • Strong customer service and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and own reliable transportation.

Physical Demands:
  • Continual standing and walking during shift.
  • Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional exposure to toxic chemicals.
