Overview

The Senior Legal Advisor is responsible for managing aspects of the company's legal needs, including contract review and strategy planning. They will work with executives, risk management, and the board for guidance and coaching on industry matters. The Senior Legal Advisor will provide senior management with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation, manage the legal function, and obtain and oversee the work of outside counsel.

Responsibilities

The Senior Legal Advisor will perform the following duties:

  • Perform pre-bid reviews of contract requirements, insurance, and bonds.
  • Participate in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Provide guidance and legal implications of all matters.
  • Serve as legal advisor on all major business transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
  • Judge the merits of any cases filed against or on behalf of the company.
  • Assume ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the company conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Select, retain, manage, and evaluate all outside counsel.
  • Advises on legal aspects of the company's financing, including assessing and advising on current and future business structures and legal entities.
  • Oversee the company's claims and potential claims.
  • Assist in forming corporations and preparing legal documents, such as leases, contracts, letters of intent, subcontracts, and attachments.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor from an accredited ABA Law School, be admitted to practice and a member of the bar for the appropriate districts, and have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a practicing litigation lawyer. They will also have exposure to and/or familiarity with the construction industry, liens, contracts, subcontracts, and risk management, as well as a broad overview and experience in intellectual property law.

Travel Requirements

The Senior Legal Advisor will spend 0-5% of their time traveling to job sites/office locations.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

The Senior Legal Advisor will work in a quiet environment, performing prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, climbing stairs, and remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
