Job Summary

The Assistant Manager will play a key role in the Financial Reporting team, working closely with the Manager to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual Consolidated Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Management Reporting Packages
  • Develop and prepare several sections of the balance sheet and cash flow statements, including workpaper documentation and analysis
  • Review and analyze assigned sections to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP
  • Identify key risks and opportunities during balance sheet and cash flow reviews, and develop new ways to present information to senior management
  • Coordinate receipt of supporting schedules from various preparers, and verify and document the accuracy and completeness of each schedule
  • Prepare schedules to support external audit requests and assist in the preparation of quarterly SEC reporting requirements
  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly forecast, annual business plan, and budget for the Statement of Cash Flows
  • Perform validation checks to ensure congruency of reporting systems, and research and resolve unusual activities and balances
Requirements
  • Three plus years of progressive job experience in accounting, audit experience preferred
  • Public accounting experience is a plus
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel and/or Power BI
  • PeopleSoft and the Hyperion / Essbase Reporting Suite preferred
  • Detail oriented and active learner
  • Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects while meeting required goals and deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills, effective in prioritizing work and following through on commitments
  • Strong communication skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with others at all levels of the organization
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, ability to develop alternatives and solutions
  • Positive attitude and a high level of enthusiasm and energy
  • Self-starter and highly motivated
Education

Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA preferred

This position will be based at MI Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland
