Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing maintenance tasks on roads and bridges in a timely and safe manner. The employee will work under the direction of the foreperson and may receive direction from the Superintendent or Department Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on roads and bridges, including repairs and replacements.
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as backhoes and jackhammers, to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in the maintenance of county vehicles, including pickup trucks and backhoes.
  • Work in a team environment to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the foreperson or Superintendent.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 10 years of experience in construction or structural road and bridge maintenance.
  • Knowledge of PennDOT publications and sign manual.
  • Ability to work in all types of climate and temperatures.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Work Environment

The work environment is typically outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions. The noise level is moderate to loud, and the employee may be required to work in hazardous conditions.

The employee must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, and must be able to lift and move heavy objects. The employee must also be able to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
