Electrical Engineer Job Description

At Ellaway Blues Consulting, we are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing electrical distribution systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Distribution System Design: Design and engineer electrical distribution systems, including overhead and underground lines, substations, transformers, switchgear, and associated equipment.
  • Project Planning and Management: Collaborate with project managers, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and budgets for distribution projects, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Technical Analysis and Optimization: Conduct load flow, voltage drop, and short circuit studies to analyze distribution system performance and identify areas for improvement. Evaluate equipment selection, sizing, and configuration to optimize system reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Standards: Stay current with industry standards, codes, regulations, and best practices related to electrical distribution systems. Ensure that distribution designs and installations comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements such as NEC, NESC, and IEEE.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on distribution system design and analysis.
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, ETAP, or similar.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve technical problems independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
