Job Summary

This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and updating both hardware and software for building technology systems. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the building Technology Services Supervisor to assist with server administration and lead and support District operational and instructional technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, repairs, and updates hardware and software for building technology systems.
• Collaborates with the building Technology Services Supervisor to assist with server administration and lead and support District operational and instructional technology initiatives.
• Performs corrective and preventive maintenance and diagnostics on technology systems.
• Independently utilizes problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• May be required to perform work at various locations throughout the District as needed.
• Attends to the needs of students, staff, and the general public.

Requirements

• Maintained regular attendance with no occurrences of attendance abuse during the previous two years as described in Article 13 Section E of the current agreement.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and appropriately, as well as exhibit patience and understanding, with the students, staff, and general public.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to use prescribed safety and personal protective equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on a frequent basis and up to 80 lbs. on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to perform difficult physical labor in variable weather conditions such as hot, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc.
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders on a frequent basis, and work from scaffolding and lifts on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach while performing various assignments as well as operate all related equipment.
• Must have an appropriate and valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Must be able to regularly work independently and perform tasks without direct supervision.
• Must have appropriate vendor certifications relevant to current District standards.
• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills and physical ability necessary to operate, maintain, repair, reconfigure, and upgrade at least one of the major technical systems currently in place.
• Must have A+ and Network+ certification or appropriate vendor certification.
• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and physical ability necessary for specialized technology implementation and troubleshooting tasks, which may include current District standard operating systems.
• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and physical ability necessary to utilize secondary vendor web sites and other resources to obtain information necessary to be able to resolve software/hardware issues.
• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and physical ability necessary to maintain correct and complete documentation through the District's help desk.
• Must have successfully completed District-recognized courses in Electricity 1, Blueprint reading, a District-recognized program in basic software/computer maintenance, and a District-recognized program in basic electronics maintenance; or equivalent technical training.

Position Expectations

• Acquire appropriate District standard operating system Administrator certification.
• Must have or obtain current vendor certifications relevant to current District standards.
• Assist with management of appropriate site-level technical documentation for the various installed building technology systems.
• Maintain the knowledge, skills, and physical ability necessary for the maintenance and operation of District technology systems by reviewing manuals; viewing web sites, etc. for new software/hardware systems and setups, and sharing knowledge gained with appropriate technology staff.
• Maintain the knowledge, skills, and physical ability necessary for the maintenance and operation of District approved software and cloud-based applications.
• Maintain the knowledge, skills, and physical ability necessary to evaluate and prioritize job assignments, material, and special equipment necessary to complete assignments.
• Maintain the knowledge, skills, and physical ability necessary to assist in the maintenance of assets, equipment procurement, inventory, and supplies.
• Maintain documentation of all District equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and projects assigned.
• Assist with the District's capital projects program as required related to the technical systems and infrastructure.
• Work with the supervisor(s) in developing, implementing, and maintaining a preventive maintenance program.
• Be observant and inform the supervisor of potential trouble spots in the operation of building systems and equipment to prevent a failure or breakdown.
• Observe and comply with appropriate required codes.
• Work with building, District, and instructional technology teams in the implementation of building and District-wide technology initiatives.
• Achieve a high level of knowledge, skills, and physical ability necessary for operating, maintaining, repairing, reconfiguring, and upgrading at least two of the major technical systems.
• Ensure assigned vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and in good operating condition at all times.
• Must maintain an appropriate and valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Perform assigned tasks in the amount of time appropriate to the task at hand.
• Perform snow removal and salting on an occasional basis as needed.
• Identify and/or take action to remedy potential safety and health problems.
• Project a positive image of the District to the general public, staff, and students.
• Report in writing to the supervisor any observed misuses or needed repairs to school property.
• Participate in District-sponsored training programs to maintain and update knowledge, skills, certifications, and licenses as required for this position.
• Effectively communicate and appropriately respond to various forms of electronic communication provided by the District.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
