CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels (CSRH-NB) is a premier, 94-bed healthcare facility located in the vibrant downtown area, continually evolving to accommodate the growing needs of the community. The hospital employs state-of-the-art technology and methodologies, featuring an Outpatient Imaging Center, comprehensive orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, a modernized birthing center with 24/7 neonatal support, emergency services, a wound care/hyperbaric center, advanced 3D mammography, and extensive cardiac care, encompassing diagnostics through to open-heart surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

• In alignment with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.

• Addresses the increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families, consistent with their level of practice.

• Administers medications and treatments according to established protocols; monitors for side effects and treatment efficacy.

• Maintains accurate documentation of patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.

• Evaluates learning needs and delivers education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identifies issues and available resources.

Core Competencies:

• Utilizes critical thinking to assess the multifaceted needs of patients and families, communicating findings to the healthcare team.

• Develops and implements individualized care plans based on evidence-based practices.

• Monitors and documents patient progress and treatment goals, performing timely reassessments.

• Anticipates and plans for patient admissions, discharges, and transfers to enhance patient flow.

Qualifications:

Experience:
  • Preferred: Completion of a Perinatal RN Residency or recent experience in a Perinatal Setting.
  • Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty.
Education:
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
  • All newly hired experienced RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of employment.
  • New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member.
  • Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • RN License in the state of employment or compact.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Current STABLE certification is required at the time of hire or within a specified timeframe.
  • Current NRP certification is required at the time of hire or within a specified timeframe.
