Job Title: In-House Counsel Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled In-House Counsel Assistant to join our team at Hassan & Sons Inc.

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $115,000 per year

As an In-House Counsel Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting our General Counsel in various legal matters, including contract management, compliance monitoring, and document preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts, including vendor agreements, lease agreements, and other business-related contracts.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Support the General Counsel in monitoring and ensuring company compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including environmental, labor, and safety standards.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and file legal documents, including corporate filings, regulatory reports, and other necessary documentation.
  • Assist in Litigation: Assist in the preparation of documents for litigation, including discovery, pleadings, and other court filings.
  • Liaise with Regulatory Agencies: Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies, assist with permit applications, and ensure timely submissions of required reports and documentation.
  • Perform Due Diligence: Conduct due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, or new business ventures, including reviewing property leases, licenses, and other legal obligations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Paralegal Certification: Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Paralegal, preferably in an in-house legal department or law firm.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the gas station, convenience store, or retail industry is a plus.

Skills:

  • Research Skills: Strong understanding of California and Oregon state and federal laws.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
