We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team at Big Horn County School District #1. As a key member of our educational support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Assist students with disabilities in a classroom or similar learning environment, providing individualized support and accommodations as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers and other instructional assistants to provide efficient and effective support to students.
- Confer with teachers and case managers to evaluate student progress and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) services.
- Modify instructional materials and provide accommodations under the direction of a teacher, in accordance with student IEPs.
- Record observations and incidents related to specific students, providing documentation and communication to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to inquiries from staff, providing information, direction, and referrals as needed.
- Assist with non-instructional classroom duties, such as supervision of students during lunch periods, recesses, and field trips.
- Perform record-keeping and clerical functions, supporting the teacher in preparing records and materials.
- Maintain confidentiality when entrusted with personal information pertaining to staff members or students.
- Participate in in-service training programs and follow district policies and procedures.
- High School Graduate
- Meet the requirements for serving as a paraeducator, including an AA Degree, 60 college/university credits, or passing the Parapro test
- Proficiency in typing, filing, computer skills, and general clerical skills
- Demonstrated competence for assigned responsibilities
- Experience working with young people or in an educational setting preferred
This position is subject to a pre-hire background check and a drug test. The successful candidate will be employed at-will, with salary, hours, and length of employment determined as needed.
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the supervising teacher with input from the Building Principal.
