Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Social Service Specialist to join our team at Dane County, WI. As a Social Service Specialist, you will be responsible for providing support and services to individuals and families in need, working closely with our team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct client services, including teaching child management skills and techniques to parents, supervising parent/child family interaction sessions, and providing oral and written feedback to parents.
  • Work closely with social workers to provide additional support to youth and families, monitoring cases, contacting youth, parents, schools, therapists, foster parents, group home staff to gather information or monitor compliance with court orders.
  • Assist with emergency day time needs of foster parents, kin and like kin providers as needed, and provide intake functions for emergency out of home care placements.
  • Support on call foster homes, including scheduling and assistance with concrete daily needs, and provide primary organization and support of Out of Home Care mentor program.
Requirements
  • A combination of training and/or experience equivalent to two (2) years of college education and (1) year of experience in providing direct client services in a human services field pertaining to teaching, counseling, child development or child management, or working with individuals with special needs.
  • Ability to engage and work with people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds with understanding and respect for individuals and their differences.
  • Ability to use the computer to document case notes and activities, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification for State of Wisconsin as Certified Parent Peer Specialist.
  • Knowledge of child development and child management techniques and ability to teach these to others.
