Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Specialist

The University of California, Merced is seeking a highly skilled Intellectual Property Officer to join their team. This role will collaborate with the Senior Intellectual Property Officer to analyze patent agreements, licenses, and technology transfer activities.

Responsibilities include drafting and managing various agreements, maintaining IP records, and uploading disclosures to databases. The successful candidate will also manage the department's docketing system, assist with programming activities for entrepreneurship projects, coordinate outreach with industry sponsors, plan events, and provide document preparation services.

This position requires extensive communication with internal and external stakeholders and involves managing social media and marketing efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative skills, demonstrated ability to confront and clarify issues, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $28.28-$36.21 per hour, based on the location and job requirements. Benefits include a comprehensive package offered by the University of California, which includes health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

About the Job:

  • Perform advanced analysis of provisional and full draft agreements for patents, licenses, letters of intent, and other technology transfer-related activities
  • Maintain the integrity of IP records, upload of invention disclosures, and other systemwide metrics to the UC Patent Tracking System (PTS) and related databases as needed
  • Draft, maintain, dockets, and files reports, contracts, and other required inventions and patent-related agreements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in science, technology, engineering, marketing, business, or related area
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and writing skills
