Dishwasher/Steward

At The Wonderful Company, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dishwasher/Steward to join our team at La Cocina Shafter, our brand-new café located within the Wonderful Industrial Park.

The Dishwasher/Steward is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in our kitchen and public areas. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Aid prep cooks and other kitchen staff as needed, especially during peak times
• Wash a variety of dishes, utensils, and equipment
• Organize and clean storage areas
• Prepare daily production lists
• Sweep and mop floors and other janitorial work
• Sort and remove trash
• Load and unload trucks that deliver or pick up food and supplies
• Set up and clean up for events as needed
• Operate the industrial dishwasher in a proper and safe manner

• GED or high school diploma preferred
• Food Safety, Food handlers training and or certification preferred
• A commitment to quality service
• Knowledge of basic cooking and prepping techniques and basic math skills
• Awareness of local, state, federal health and sanitation laws
• Understanding proper use and maintenance of major kitchen equipment, including stoves, refrigeration, slice, knives, and dish machine
• Ability to work in a high-energy and demanding environment
• Works well with others and is a team player
• Conversational Spanish is desired but not required
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
