Position Overview: Finance Team Lead

In the role of Finance Team Lead at LEAP, you will play a vital part in our finance team, ensuring the effective and efficient management of the organization’s financial resources to fulfill our mission. This position involves overseeing critical initiatives within the Financial Department, assigning tasks, and providing guidance to 1-3 finance staff members. Strong communication and time management skills, along with the ability to cultivate productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, are essential.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide data-driven recommendations.

  • Adaptability: Capacity to navigate the evolving financial landscape and adjust to new regulations and technologies.
  • Financial Management Expertise: Experience in accounting principles and practices, including the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the annual budget.
  • Oversee all Accounts Receivable, including MaineCare, donations, grants, and other income sources.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements and investment reports.
  • Implement the organization's capitalization policy and maintain fixed asset records.
  • Process financial statements for review by board members and department heads.
  • Organize year-end financial documentation for the annual audit.
  • Engage with the statewide Financial Managers Group to stay updated on industry standards and protocols.

Position Profile:

This is a full-time salaried position with no direct reports, although advancement opportunities may be available for those interested in leadership roles. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and evening work.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Required: Associate or higher degree in Business/Accounting (related experience may be considered).
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics.

Experience:

  • Required: 3 or more years of accounting experience.
  • Preferred: 5 or more years of accounting experience within a nonprofit setting.

Work Environment:
