Overview:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a crucial role in delivering personal medical assistance and support for daily living activities, enhancing the quality of life for patients in their homes or facilities. This position demands adherence to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide personal medical care and assistance with daily living activities.
2. Perform essential medical tasks, including:
- Basic first aid
- Monitoring vital signs and weight
- Catheter and bowel care
- Assisting with range of motion exercises as directed by therapists
- Supporting ambulation and positioning using appropriate medical equipment.
3. Prepare meals tailored to dietary and nutritional needs.
4. Assist patients in maintaining personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, and oral care.
5. Complete and maintain necessary documentation for patient care.
6. Observe and report any significant changes in the patient's condition to the supervising nurse.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current, unrestricted certification as required by state regulations.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Proven ability in clinical assessments and compliance with care policies.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Additional Requirements:
- Ongoing education as mandated by state regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform necessary tasks.
Work Environment:
- Must be adaptable to various settings, potentially involving exposure to allergens and infectious materials.
