This role is pivotal in enhancing the efficiency of our radiology services, ensuring that diagnostic imaging is conducted seamlessly and professionally. As a Technologist Assistant/Technologist in Training, your primary responsibility will be to support technologists in managing the workflow of the scanning area, thereby contributing to timely and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Assistance to Technologists
- Oversee MRI, CT, arthrogram, and x-ray schedules to ensure smooth operations.
- Adjust patient schedules as needed, keeping all technologists informed of any modifications.
- Welcome and guide patients to changing rooms, providing brief explanations of procedures.
- Prepare patient jackets and organize films according to date and identification number.
- Assist technologists in setting up rooms between patients, including the proper arrangement of equipment.
- Facilitate timely patient transitions by preparing the next patient while the current one is still in the scanner.
- Restore and network previous exams for returning patients the following day.
Patient Imaging Support
- Screen patients prior to exams for any precautions or contraindications, using two identifiers for accuracy.
- Prepare and explain imaging procedures to patients, ensuring they are comfortable and informed throughout.
- Conduct routine MRI procedures on designated body parts, ensuring minimal repeats and providing ongoing patient support.
- Perform advanced MRI procedures under supervision, adjusting scan parameters as necessary.
- Maintain positive relationships with radiologists, referring physicians, and colleagues.
- Adhere strictly to safety regulations and physician directives to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
- Accurately document patient information within the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Keep the work area organized and clean, promoting safety for patients and colleagues.
- Ensure compliance with ACR toolkit and accreditation standards.
- Maintain equipment in optimal condition, cleaning and disinfecting after each use.
- Follow all HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality.
Cleaning and Organization Duties
- Stock and clean work areas and MRI rooms regularly.
- Ensure all patient areas are organized and well-maintained.
- Manage the cleanliness and stock of patient preparation and restroom facilities.
- Organize and maintain supply closets and computer rooms.
- Assist with the organization of the radiologist reading area at the end of the day.
- Coordinate with technologists and front office staff for any additional tasks as required.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
