We are currently seeking a Lead Land Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will lead the daily operations of survey activities, including construction layout, boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys. You will be responsible for production surveying duties, utilizing your extensive knowledge of principles and practices in land surveying, and providing assistance under the guidance of a Senior Land Surveyor. This position also entails performing calculations and exercising surveying judgment based on your experience and established practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct complex survey tasks related to construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys.
  • Research historical maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports.
  • Complete boundary reductions, boundary determinations, and mapping/topographic field reductions using CAD/survey software.
  • Ensure the accuracy of project survey data and manage the company standards survey database.
  • Review survey production and final products, processed data collection, and field notes for quality assurance.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and providing instructions for construction staking and field survey projects.
  • Operate and assist with GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors, and other survey instruments.
  • Supervise CAD Technicians in preparing detailed plans and plats of the surveys performed.
  • Foster professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and mentor junior staff members.
  • Operate a company vehicle and adhere to safety and security protocols.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles, and practices.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documents.
  • Ability to effectively engage with public and governmental agencies, manage field crews, and coordinate equipment and supplies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with office workflow processes.
  • Expertise in AutoCAD C3D, survey, GPS, and MS Office software.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management capabilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by IMEG's carrier.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Associate of Science (AS) Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in the building design consulting or construction industry is required; 12 years is preferred.
  • A Land Surveyor (LS) License is required.
