Deputy Election Administrator

Yellowstone County is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our Election Office team as a Deputy Election Administrator. This role is responsible for performing specialized and responsible administrative work in the Election Office, ensuring the smooth operation of our election reporting management system, and maintaining compliance with State election laws and statutes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the maintenance and testing of voting machines to ensure reliable results on Election Day.
  • Recruit, train, and certify Election Judges to ensure the integrity of our election process.
  • Coordinate and conduct in-person and online training sessions for Chief and Provisional Judges, as well as Polling Place Managers.
  • Assist in the management and direction of voter registration activities, including absentee, mail-in, and advance voting programs.
  • Collaborate with the Elections Administrator to prepare ballots and ensure compliance with State election laws and statutes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Management, or a closely related field; or
  • Four (4) years' experience in election administration, office management, including public speaking, or other related occupational experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training totaling four (4) years.
  • Valid Driver's License issued by the State of Montana.
