About Maryville Academy
Maryville Academy is dedicated to providing specialized care for medically fragile and technology-dependent children, ranging from newborns to 21 years old. Our facility serves as a supportive environment for children transitioning from acute care, focusing on those requiring extensive medical attention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver quality nursing services to patients in accordance with the standards set by the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Work under the guidance of the Charge Nurse and the Director of Nursing to support healthcare providers in patient care.
- Utilize the nursing process to ensure effective patient care delivery, adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
- Document patient conditions, interventions, and activities in collaboration with a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Manage the admission and discharge processes for children, ensuring timely completion of necessary documentation.
- Provide orientation for new staff members as needed and be prepared to cover various shifts to ensure patient safety.
- Maintain a clean and well-stocked patient care area.
- Conduct initial assessments of assigned patients within the first hour of the shift.
- Record patient care and status changes at least every two hours.
- Process medical orders for assigned patients promptly.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders regarding appointments and health status updates.
- Assist in supervising and training Certified Nursing Assistants when assigned.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop and adjust the Nursing Plan of Care as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse Program.
- Experience in pediatric, emergency, or medical-surgical nursing.
- Proficiency in managing complex pediatric cases.
- Spanish language skills are preferred.
Additional Skills:
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Capability to perform essential functions with adequate visual, auditory, and cognitive skills.
Work Environment:
- Position may involve interactions with youth who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
- Flexibility to work additional hours and weekends as needed.
- Full-time staff are expected to comply with weekend scheduling requirements.
