Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Registered Nurse in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, you will provide exceptional care to critically ill infants and children who require close monitoring and life support systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform nursing assessments and develop individualized plans of care for patients and families.
  • Provide Relationship Based Care to patients and families, utilizing the nursing process and performing responsibilities in five areas of nursing practice: clinician, clinical inquiry, teacher, professional development, and leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff to identify health care needs and provide high-quality care.
  • Participate in an inter-professional approach to quality treatment of patients and their families with medically complex diseases, organ transplantation, multiple traumas, various respiratory illnesses, and other pediatric critical conditions.
  • Stay up-to-date in nursing practice by utilizing current nursing and healthcare literature for information and problem-solving.
Requirements:
  • 1+ years of nursing experience required.
  • Previous PICU/ICU experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or higher preferred; Associates degree in nursing with equivalent experience in lieu of BSN accepted with expectations to complete BSN.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association (BLSC).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff.
