The Senior Model Risk Analyst plays a crucial role in overseeing and mitigating model-related risks by conducting independent validations, monitoring governance frameworks, and offering expert guidance on models utilized by the institution.

This position requires collaboration with diverse stakeholders to ensure that the models employed for pricing, risk assessment, and strategic decision-making are accurate, reliable, and compliant with regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct independent validation and governance activities related to institutional models.
  • Lead thorough evaluations of model accuracy, reliability, and robustness.
  • Oversee model validation processes, including scrutinizing model assumptions, methodologies, and implementations.
  • Identify limitations and weaknesses in models, proposing enhancements or alternative strategies.
  • Contribute to the refinement of the institution's model risk management framework, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the execution and management of model risk processes, including model inventory and ongoing monitoring.
  • Coordinate with essential stakeholders to ensure adherence to regulatory model risk requirements.
  • Assess risks associated with financial models, including potential errors and biases.
  • Prepare detailed model validation reports, documenting processes, findings, and recommendations.
  • Provide expert guidance to stakeholders to foster a robust model risk management environment.
  • Mentor junior members of the model risk management team.
  • Advise staff on best practices for evaluating and managing risks in model deployment.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and technological advancements in model risk management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the model risk management function.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Master's Degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or financial engineering, or equivalent experience in financial, statistical, market risk, or credit risk models. A Ph.D. in a relevant field is preferred.

Candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience in model validation or development within a financial institution, rating agency, regulatory body, or as a financial consultant.

Strong knowledge of financial models and their applications in pricing, risk measurement, and decision-making is essential, along with familiarity with various model types, including credit, market, and liquidity risk models.

Understanding of regulatory guidelines and industry standards for model risk management is highly desirable.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB is required, along with advanced skills in data manipulation and statistical analysis.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities are necessary, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Detail-oriented individuals with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, are preferred.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build effective relationships with stakeholders at various levels is essential.
