Job Title: Mechanical Designer

At Addison Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design or drafting of manufacturing and industrial plant layouts, plans, instrument/machinery selection, installation, construction drawings, along with cost estimates.
  • Utilize Autodesk Navisworks to create 3D models and technical drawings.
  • Conduct design modifications and optimizations to enhance functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop basic to complex engineering P&ID drawings using proper along with high quality drafting standards.
  • Ensure accuracy and adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and quality control guidelines.
  • Generate a comprehensive bill of materials (BOM) and contribute to the creation of assembly instructions and documentation.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of designs for potential errors, interferences, or conflicts, proposing suitable solutions as necessary.
  • Maintain well-organized files and documentation for easy retrieval and reference purposes.
  • Stay up to date with the latest CAD techniques, software updates, and industry trends to continually enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design, related field, or commensurate experience required.
  • 8+ years of mechanical design and drafting experience required. 10+ years preferred.
  • Heavy equipment or machinery manufacturing experience ideally in the oil & gas/energy industry.
  • Proven Experience with Autodesk Navisworks, Inventor, AutoCAD, Solidworks, or other CAD software design tools will be considered a plus.
  • Proficiency in creating 3D models, technical drawings, and assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve design issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for CAD modeling and drafting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively communicate ideas and solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing project requirements.
