Job Summary

The California Highway Patrol is seeking a highly skilled Motor Carrier Specialist I to join our team. As a Motor Carrier Specialist I, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with administrative regulations related to safety, maintenance, and operational practices of motor carriers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth vehicle inspections for annual certifications and make recommendations regarding the granting of PUC operating authority.
  • Inspect carrier and shipper facilities for compliance with state and federal regulations pertaining to documentation of hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Prepare comprehensive written reports of inspections conducted and make detailed investigations of vehicles involved in accidents to determine if the cause was mechanical.
  • Assist in preparation of complaints, reports, and exhibits, and testify as a witness in court.
Requirements
  • A valid California Driver's License (CDL) is required.
  • A background investigation and medical clearance are required prior to being hired.
  • Pass a drug screening prior to being hired.
