Resource Teacher Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Resource Teacher Assistant to join our team at Dallas County. The successful candidate will provide instructional support to students in resource classrooms, including orientation, in-school suspension, physical education, and special education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise students in resource classrooms, ensuring adherence to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), charter policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Assist in tutoring instructional subjects to students through the use of classroom materials, as outlined in established Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with teachers on student IEPs, monitor student comprehension and progress, and notify teachers of any necessary modifications.
  • Record data and manage physical and computerized files of student records.
  • Communicate and resolve instructional materials needs through program management, maintain inventory of learning materials, and ensure the classroom is clean and orderly.
  • Administer formal and informal testing to evaluate student success.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program.
  • Four (4) years of educational or behavioral related work experience, or 60 hours of college credit, or a combination of the two.
  • Highly skilled in classroom management and group dynamics techniques.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the general public.
  • Requires successful completion of an extensive background investigation and mandatory drug testing.
