Job Description

The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. is a catalyst for empowerment, transforming the lives of people who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities. We are currently seeking a Retail Sales Associate BSC to join our team at our Base Supply Center in Ft. Lewis, WA. This is an ideal role for someone who is dependable, self-motivated, and has prior retail and/or sales experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a warehouse environment and prior military experience is desired.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet customers and assist them in locating products in the store.
  • Direct customers to the appropriate person for non-stock or complex requests.
  • Box or pack customer orders and assist customers in loading purchases in their vehicles or assist with delivery requirements as needed.
  • Answer telephone and assist customer inquiries.
  • Process backorders and contact customers for pick-up.
  • Rotate stock according to packaging expiration date.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding any uncertainty of work instructions.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and adhere to safety standards.
  • May assist in unloading freight and in the receiving process.
  • Ability to pick master cartons off the floor, put them onto carts, and stock shelves.
  • Perform regular housekeeping and assigned janitorial duties.
  • Perform cycle counts and re-stock shelves as freight is received.
  • Assure Shelf Tags are present, readable, in good condition, and accurate.
  • Label shelves with Shelf (Price) Tags and use a sticker system to identify back stock or multiple facings.
  • Identify and label AbilityOne products with shelf talkers.
  • Manage products that are out-of-stock by checking inventory quantity, min/max, and flipping shelf tags where products are sold out.
  • Maintain product quality and standards of the store by constantly facing products.
  • Report any carton and product damage to management for disposition.
  • Represent The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. and AbilityOne in a positive manner and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs (box of copy paper).
  • Ability to perform work assignments requiring repetitive motions.
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours with standard break periods.
  • Must be able to work on concrete floors that may be uneven, standing, stooping, bending, stretching throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to safely use warehouse equipment, climb ladders, and load and unload delivery vehicles.
  • Working knowledge of Zoom Text.
  • Aptitude to perform basic math functions manually and with a calculator.
  • Must be able to use phones, fax, and copier.
  • Must be able to communicate in a pleasant, polite, and professional manner with both customers and co-workers.
  • Should be able to answer routine customer questions and direct them to the appropriate person for resolution.
  • Must be fluent in English, written and spoken.
