This position necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the renewable energy landscape, regulatory requirements, and governance principles.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy Formulation:

Collaborate with diverse teams to create and refine governance and permitting policies tailored to the renewable energy industry.

Continuously research and remain informed about pertinent industry regulations, standards, and best practices to guarantee compliance.

Compliance Oversight:

Supervise and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations concerning renewable energy operations, environmental considerations, and safety protocols.

Facilitate and coordinate internal audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with governance policies.

Ethics and Sustainability Initiatives:

Promote ethical conduct and sustainability efforts across the organization by advocating responsible practices in renewable energy production, resource management, and community involvement.

Identify potential governance challenges and offer recommendations for mitigation.
Collaborate closely with legal and risk management teams to address any legal or regulatory concerns that may arise.

Generate regular reports on governance and compliance activities for internal stakeholders and regulatory entities.

Training and Development:

Design training programs and materials to inform employees about governance policies, compliance obligations, and ethical considerations within the renewable energy sector.

Proactively identify opportunities to improve governance practices, streamline operations, and enhance efficiency.
Undertake other ad hoc projects and reports as necessary.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, sustainable business, law, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is advantageous.
Profound understanding of renewable energy technologies, industry trends, and regulatory frameworks.
Familiarity with corporate governance and permitting principles and their application within the renewable energy sector.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify potential risks and propose effective solutions.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Capacity to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Experience in compliance oversight, policy formulation, or environmental regulations is preferred.
Certification in relevant governance or sustainability frameworks (e.g., ISO 14001, GRI, CDP) is a plus.
