Career Description: As a Quality Manager at Caterpillar Inc., you will be part of a global team that cares about the work we do and each other. Our team is responsible for manufacturing and assembling Track Type Tractors at our East Peoria, IL facility. In this role, you will analyze customer requirements, define specifications for products and services, and develop quality control processes to ensure compliance with quality standards. We are looking for a team member with a growth mindset, who promotes continuous improvement and helps build a defect-free culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide quality leadership for Fabrication, Machining & Paint Operations
Act as Senior, Principal Quality Engineer
Set priorities and recommend solutions to support production requirements
Lead cross-functional teams to solve complex quality issues
Manage disposition of non-conforming material through analysis of defects and root cause identification
Requirements:
Degree or equivalent experience desired
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Quality Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools, and techniques for Quality Risk Management; ability to implement the quality assurance process of assessment, control, communication, and review of risks to the quality of products.
Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expert with GD&T and Metrology Equipment (Vision Systems, CMM, 3D laser & Blue light Scanners)
ASQ quality certification- CQE, CRE, CMQ&OE, CQA, CSSBB
Experience working in Automotive supply base as QE or Product development/New product introduction (APQP) experience.
Weld Engineering Experience. ASNT-II or CWI
Experience with Product design and design software, Creo
Hands on experience with Data analysis tools & Powerbi, or similar visualization tools
Good human relations skills are needed to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department
General understanding of the Caterpillar organization, products, policies, and procedures
